Sketchabilities Layout Tutorial

Hi peeps!! How's your weekend so far? I had so much fun with Mr.Handsome. Our schedule was jam-packed with photography assignments but we managed to pull out a couple of hours to watch From Paris with Love at the cinema. Boy, it was action packed but it was really hilarious! Well, John Travolta just know how to make some joke here and there :)

I am back with a pretty simple tutorial how I did my layout for Sketchabilities. Well it's more like how I tackle the sketch... LOL!! I just adore this sketch HERE. Multi-photos are so much fun!! Oh yeah, be sure to check out the sketch first before moving on so you'll get an idea what I am doing :)

For this layout, I mixed the new & old patterned papers created by Jenni Bowlin. Love the vintage feel!! She is brilliant, rite?

Get one of the patterned paper and use the Fiskars border puncher to create a scallop edge.

Next, cut a strip, 3 squares/rectangles and also the butterflies.
This is what it will look like :)

Then, I took out my Glimmer Mist and did my thing. I concentrated at the bottom and the top as I will fill the middle with papers and photos.

Glue the scallop edges down first and then follow by the brown piece somewhere in the middle of the paper. These strips of papers will help me to determine where I will place the photos, etc.

I love to create dimension on my layouts and foam dots are truly useful for that purpose. I stuck the foam dots on the first photo and this photo will be placed somewhere in the middle of the strips of papers.

Then, followed by another 2 more. One on the left and the other on the right. The positions are based on the sketch.

Side view.

Instead of using more photos, I replaced with the squares in between of the photos. I paste them flat instead using the foam dots. This is how it will look from the bottom view.

Once you are done with the positioning of the photos and the with tiny patterned papers, just slip the butterflies in between the photos to create a more natural look to it. Position all the butterflies before you stick them down. I placed foam dots to most of the butterflies wings to create an interesting look.

To create dimension to the wing, I pinched the end of the wing. You may add other embellies like blings, stickers and of course journaling to complete your layout! That's sums it all :)

Drum roll please....

Ta daa... here's the finished layout!!

Below are some close up shots of the layout...

Well that's all for tonite folks! It's time to hit the sack and dream...
Nite nite!! Thanks for dropping by and leaving me some love... as usual :)

p/s: pls let me know if you manage to find time to create using the Sketchabilities sketch because I'd love to see :)

Birthday Card

Today is my boss's birthday. Alia has been a very good friend and also a great boss to me!! She is a very gracious woman and very easy to work with. I have been working with her for the past 5 years and I really enjoyed it. I am one of the fortunate person that enjoys work, simply because I have an awesome boss and colleagues. I created this card yesterday and managed to whipped it up within 20 minutes. I was pretty sleepy so had to make my brain work faster or else I will not get to sleep. LOL!! I got my colleagues to wish her in the card and so glad that Alia loved the card. Once again, Happy Birthday to you Teacher Alia!

Another event photo shoot tomorrow, I am excited + nervous too. It's a good sign actually. LOL!! Oh yeah, meeting my buddy tomorrow at the event. Double excitement! Hehe.
Nite nite everyone.

I really do...

I really love playing with Sketchabilities sketch... I really do!! Well it's simple... it's because Karan is so good with sketches and her sketches are always full of layering. Something different from other sketcher!! Here is what I created using this super-fun sketch :)

Here are some shots of the layout :

Heart this silly-fun series with our dear church friend, Joel Dass. Well, it's our self-taken photo booth shots. I love photo booth... I really do!! This time I used Jenni Bowlin's patterned paper & the colors reminded me of carnival colors. LOL!!

Seriously heart the Hambly Screen Prints frames *wink*

The title "Silly Fun" is from the new K&CO. In that packet, it has lots of fun die-cut words. It made my life easy. I heart die-cuts... I really do!! Oh yeah, Sketchabilities are having DT call and also for her new venture, Cardabilities. Check them here & here :)

I would also love to show you a fast card I made for LCOM Card Challenge. It's simple, to include a chipboard on the card.

You can check the rest of the DTs pretty cards HERE.

I had an awesome weekend!! It was great to visit my popo (that's grandma in Chinese) & we had great fun chatting and fellow-shipping. My sister, Joanne joined in the fun too. Got to visit popo more often, at least that's what I can do since mum is not around to do so. I missed mum... I really do!

I am still very much in LOVE...

LOL!! That title just popped into my mind in a split second. Well, so far February has been a good month to me. I decided to share some love. Let me tell you how I am going to do it. First I am going to show you a shabby chic card tutorial (well at least it is"shabby chic" to me... LOL!) & I have also prepared a Shabby Chic + a little vintage RAK (again... at least they are to me... LOL!!).

Ok for the tutorial I got the inspiration when I visited Mission To Create that led me to Deborah's blog. She is hosting a card challenge that you have to include the 5 requirements onto your card - lace trim, cardboard/corrugated paper, use at least 5 hearts, glimmer/maya/smooch mist & the color turqouise. I gathered the things and started to do it. Mr.Handsome was in the room with me and I told him wouldn't it be nice if I just share this simple tutorial. He said, "Why not? I can snap pics of you doing it and post a tutorial at the blog." Isn't he the sweetest?? Please bear in mind that this tutorial has no specific measurements because I believe you can create in any size you want/comfy with. I did mine in 4"x6". Alright peeps, here we go...

You'll need these...
(pls feel free to work with what you have in your stash)

White cardstock
2 patterned papers (one for base, another tiny piece on the corrugated paper)
1 Prima rose (or any type of flowers)
Maya Mist (mine is turqouise blue)
Corrugated paper
Distresser (you can use a scissors to distress the edges)
Crackle Paint
Ribbon
Laces
Pearl Trims

Cut the patterned paper, just slightly smaller than the white cardstock and paste it. This will be your base.

Next, get the Prima flower and spray it with mist. Leave it to dry.

This is how it will look like. I just sprayed mine lightly for a subtle look.

Next, gently tear the corrugated paper for a distress look.

Use a distresser/scissors for the edges.

Once you are happy with how the corrugated paper look like, paste a tiny piece of another patterned paper with wordings. You can opt for old music sheet/dictionary/story book pages. The possibilites are endless.

Then, paste a lace on top of the patterned paper.

Now, we will work on the ribbon. You might want to work with a longer ribbon for this. This is really simple. First, tie a bow.

Flip it over and tie another bow. Simple huh?

This is how it will look like. Put it aside.

Ok, paste the ribbon just slightly above the lace. I tucked the excess at the back of the corrugated paper.

Since the challenge requires at least five hearts, I used my gold heart ribbon. I heart that ribbon alot!! It's actually puffy in the middle, how cute! Once you are done, you can paste the turqouise Prima flower onto the pink ribbon.

Next, you might want to have a lace with holes in between. I got the idea after I saw Jing Jing's post on her published work in CK. She was being featured for having a pretty ribbon technique. You can read more HERE.

I stringed mine with pearl trims. How pretty...
You are pretty done by now. Just stick the lace trim onto the card. Further decorate your card with embellishments.

Ta daa.... here's the "Lovely" card I created for Mission To Create challenge :)

Close-up shots:

Oh yeah, I decided to paint the corrugated paper with some crackle paint and the result is lovely!! Hope you like this simple tutorial :)

Ok, here are the pics of my shabby chic + lil' vintage humble RAK...

As promised...

Well, I am back again to show you what I got for V-day and of course Mr.Handsome's handmade V-card. Well he got me an iPhone 3Gs in January (that's an early V-gift) but he surprised me on V-day with another 2 gifts - an instant camera aka Polaroid & a beautiful diamond ring :) Mr.Handsome is a very ROMANTIC soul!! I love him for that!!

As promised, here's the V-card he made for me. Not bad for a first-timer huh? I love it!! He even used the rub-ons on this. Very impressive!!

How I love this instant camera, I took quite alot of shots on V-day with this new baby :) Will show you the photos once I complete the "project" I am going to attempt soon. BTW, this Fujifilm instant camera is not in any store in Malaysia but Mr.Handsome just know how to get one for me. Isn't he awesome??

Here's a layout I created using our very first polaroid:
This layout was created using Color Combo # 142. I decided to play along when I saw the beautiful colors over at my talented friend's blog, Jing Jing. So with this colors, I created a layout for our precious polaroid photos :) Those photos are credit card size and they are so cute. Loving all those Crate Paper's embellies and papers too.

Close-up shots:

Alright, got to sign off now. Need to hunt for lunch & thanks for dropping by. Of course, your love always make my day!!
