Dyeing Seam Binding Tutorial

These days you'll be seeing beautiful rayon seam binding being dyed and used as a bow on cards or on scrapbook projects.

In Malaysia, I have not managed to find any rayon seam binding but only this kind of seam binding. I got this from a local stationery shop. It is usually used to tie documents or files.

This is what I did with the seam binding above:

First, I misted into a storage bag that comes with a zipper.

Once I have got a nice amount of mist, I stuffed the seam binding into the storage bag. Zipped it and gave a nice scrunch to it. You can push it to a corner to wrinkle it a little but it is not as effective as rayon seam binding as it is softer.

Ta daa!! Here's the colored seam binding. I like the natural effect of it.
A little white to go along with the pink.

Guess what, you can even try it with two colors!!

Cut another piece of seam binding.
This time I misted with two colors, turquoise & purple to give a combo look.

Repeat the same process, scrunch it.

Here's the color combo effect. Nice huh?

To give a little more interest to your seam binding, you can use script stamp to stamp along it.
Staz On (Jet Black) is the perfect ink for this!

Ta daa!! Another cool effect, no?

You can always form the dyed seam binding into a very pretty rose & attach a pretty pearl as the centre! Love this shabby chic looking rose, do you? Oh yeah, in this post HERE, I used a turquoise seam binding for my card and I loved it!

Another tip:
You can try using coffee powder to dye it too, not only it has a nice smell to it but it gives a nice brown tone color to your seam binding! Cool huh?

Hope you enjoy this simple tutorial and can't wait to see your version :) Do share with me if you have done something similar ok?

Got to hit the sack now! Nite nite!!

KCK Challenge Design Team + Giveaway

A tiny history bout KCK. KCK is owned by a company based in Singapore since the 80's. From fancy stationery, stickers & gift, they ventured into scrapbooking/craft supplies. They have many different embellishments to go with different themes. Cute & classy they have it all!

So when I was contacted by the talented Sandy Ang, KCK coordinator in Singapore to be a Guest Designer I was like... ehhh... is that for real? LOL! I was relieved that my LSS, Papier Love carries KCK products. I managed to get only 3 glittery patterned papers & a pack of classy black & white embellishment stickers. BIG Phew! It was a challenge to me too cause I don't usually use these colors but guess what... I love the result!!

So here is what I was asked to create - a mini album. I created a 6"x4" album. Info & details bout the products and the album:

Glittering Glamour papers are beautiful collection by KCK. It is very glittery and very glamourous. I love the texture of the patterned papers and it is thick. Therefore it is versatile for all types of projects.

The embellishment stickers that I chose are so lovely and very eclectic looking. Perfect combination to go along with the papers!

For this mini album, I kept the look simple, simply because the papers are so beautiful. I fussy cut the papers and layer them to give a dimensional look by using foam dots. The balance of the papers I created a handmade flower at the cover.

I also used a butterfly punch to punch the papers to further enhance the designs. To finish the look I distress the edges of the mini album with brown ink.

Supplies :
KCK Products - Glittering Glamour Papers (ref 12141, 12142, 12143) and Handmade Embellishment Sticker (item: HM120)
Others - White Paper bags, Making Memories Eclectic Metal Signs, Lace, Pearls, EK Success Punch, Martha Stewart Punch, Brown Ink, Crystal Stickers, Alpha Stickers

There's a giveaway at KCK blog too. If you are interested, pls click HERE to find out more. Thanks KCK for the opportunity :)

I am waiting for a friend to hunt for craft goodies. She'll be arriving soon. Will update you on our hunt later! Oh yeah, there's another pretty giveaway HERE. Check it out! Have a great weekend everyone!!

Friendly Challenge

My crafty friend, Shamu aka Ms.Craftylicious told me that she has been running out of mojo to create and I told her, "Mind having a challenge to get you back in the game?" She said she would love to! First, I gave her this challenge and she did it so well!! Then next challenge and she excelled it again!

This latest challenge I told her that I will do it together with her since I have not been creating for a while too... hehe!

At first I was ok but yesterday I was a little freaked out because I haven't started the project at all!! What did I get myself into, haha ... it was pretty near to bed time so I started to search for materials, "The Girl's Paperie" patterned papers caught my eye and that was what I needed. After searching, jumped right into the challenge. So this is what I created in an hour using the beautiful-pastel colored-photo collage I got from the internet. Well I am not that fortunate all the time ok? Sometimes my layouts can go up to 4-5 hours, sometimes I need to bring it forward the next day!

Present to you my interpretation of the inspiration photos ...

I was so glad to have the Prima Cherry Blossoms because it kinda solved part of my prob. LOL! It's ok to hoard sometimes because you will use it someday. Can you see that I am trying to comfort myself , ok? Haha.

Love that wedding vow from 7G's!

This lovely rounded crochet trimming I got from Rita@Work. She does beautiful things!

I adore the fan alot. Mr Handsome was kind enough to accompany me and he helped me to punch the edges for the fan. He is a very supportive hubby and loves to play around with my tools at times. Haha! He calls the "Crop-a-dile" - a weapon of mass destruction... how cute!

Care to join us in future for a "Friendly Challenge"? Would love to have more to play, it'd be cool to see other interpretations too rite? You can be a scrapbooker/cardmaker/paper crafter :) Just in the name of FUN or to kick start the "mojoless moments"! Let me know if you are interested :)

Ok, need to go check out Shamu's layout and do drop by again tomorrow!!

GD @ CCCB

Hahaha... cool title, don't you think so? In this previous post, I told you that I have another happy news to dance about... errr, remember? So it is the reveal day today!! I am a Guest Designer over at City Crafter Challenge Blog!! So excited when Kristy, the CCCB owner sent me an email to invite me to be their GD. I was ecstatic!! She is such a lovely person and creates beautiful vintage-shabby chic looking projects.

I was asked to create a project that is to have a stamp image, picture or clipart of a lovely lady. Well, I had so much fun that I created not only one but two projects for CC challenge blog called "Isn't She Lovely" this week. So these are my projects:

First off, I created an altered frame. I got the frame from Ikea. This altered frame was created only using Webster's Pages papers. Love how the layering turned out to be :) Also added crochet flowers, prima flowers, vintage button and my fav ruffle ribbon & pearls! Great addition!! I seriously heart the quote: I live for those who loves me, for those who know me true - George Linnaeus Banks-

I got this beautiful lady from the internet. It's a 1960's vogue cover magazine. She is so classy!! That beautiful crochet flowers I got them from Rita. She does amazing work with crochets! That vintage button was a perfect addition as the centre of the flower. Don't you think so?

My dimension details :)

The second project I did was a card. I love this Sassafrass Lass paper, especially that little girl riding on the bike. So cute!

I had so much doing these projects and thanks Kristy for the opportunity. Do join us over @ CCCB and stand a chance to win a beautiful Melissa Frances paper pad. I want that paper pad too, seriously!! LOL!!

Sketchabilities Sketch #22

Just had a heavy downpour here at my place and because of that I am not able to watch the tv! We subscribed to a satellite TV and when the weather is bad we'll not get to watch tv...seriously! Sigh! So here I am, updating my blog :P

This week we have another cool sketch designed by Amy Oxford for Sketchabilities Sketch # 22. Do check out the DT's work too, so many interpretations!!

I decided to use this pic of Wati, Mr.Handsome and Moi :) We were in the airplane on the way to our vacay at Redang Island. For some reason, I was thinking bout the movie "Twilight" when I was creating this simple layout. Don't ask me why but it managed to creep into my mind! The colors were an unusual pick, I actually used the colors in the picture if you do notice. And Mr.Handsome looks like "The Asian Edward" in the pic.!! He is so fair! Oh well, he is my "Edward" tho' he is in "TEAM BELLA".. ROFL! Hahaha!!

Heart this handmade flower!! Love the orange!
Of course, the blings too!!

These are my fav laces!! Love the vintage laces!

My all time fav cage by HSP!

Guess I need to lie down for a while, I always have dizzy head when the weather is too hot. It was seriously hot this afternoon and the heat is crazy!! Today, I had so much fun with my ladyboss, we went to the Ramadhan market and bought yummy food. I should have taken some shots but was too hungry. LOL!! Maybe next time, till then, have a great day bloggy-friends!

Now & Then

I have came across Noel Mignon challenge blog for sometime but this time round I took an effort to create. I'm submitting the NOW layout to their Now & Then challenge that is currently running at the blog.

My first layout, the "THEN" layout:

My "NOW" layout:

Always enjoy playing with doily (I'm sure you notice by now)
I misted & distressed it to create an orange-y tone!

Heart that Quikutz butterfly & Hambly chandelier alot!

One of my fav Prima flower, so pretty rite?

Never can live without my laces and pearl trims!

This "Now" layout suits my current style, no? Gave myself a little challenge too, that is to create a romantic-classy and only use 2 colors layout. I do hope I have achieved it. So whaddaya think mates?

I was doing the ooohh and aaahhh (not the otherwise ok... LOL!!) while ransacking the box!!

These are the magazines I got. I was thrilled to see the latest Stamping mag!! Well one of my cards was pubbed in March mag but the mag is out of stock, so they replaced with the Stamping mag. So kind of them!

Cosmo Cricket: De Lovely Papers

Vintage Bride & Other Updates!

Hey hey!! Hope your weekend has been good. I always have lots of fun during weekends with Mr. Handsome :) We will catch up on movies and this week we got to watch "The Sorcerer's Apprentice". It was hilarious! Up to date we have watch close to 300 movies (or maybe more) from the day we dated till we got married. Yes, we're movie freaks!! LOL!! Tell you something, Mr.Handsome is a very sentimental guy, he kept every single movie tickets. Yes, from our courting days till this day, he is such a keeper!!

Ok I am back to show you a class I taught at my LSS couple months back. It's the "Vintage Bride" class at Papier. In the class, we played with distress ink, mist and more distressing. We also used sanding block & edge distresser to give more distressing look!! Of course, laces & pearl trims are a must for vintage + shabby chic look! We used the Making Memories "Vintage Findings" collection! One of my fav collection :)

In real life, you'll see that this layout is more shimmery and glittery but unfortunately I can't really capture the effects. I heart this layout alot!!

Close-up shots:

Well I have learnt to basic crochet today and I was getting crazy bout it. I've crocheted a medium sized doily looking piece (no patterns given, it was made out of my imagination) . Gosh it looks so amateurish that I am actually ashamed to show you. LOL!! Nothing fantastic but I am proud of me-self. Haha. Decided to show you guys. So what do you think?

Well I kinda like it *wink*

Oh yeah before I sign off, I'd like to tell you that I am a CCCB Spotlight Artist!! Thanks CCCB DT for choosing this altered notebook to be spotlighted! Woo hoo!! You should play with their challenges, it's so so cool :)

Thanks for your love and time to blog hop a little before I hit the sack :)
